Presented by the 2025 Graduating Class of Elder Conservatorium Music Theatre, Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods will be staged at the Scott Theatre, University of Adelaide for four performances only.
This fractured fairy tale follows the interweaving tales of the Baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella who wishes to go to the King's festival, Jack who wishes his cow would give some milk, and Little Red, who wishes to visit her grandmother. When the Witch reveals that she placed a curse on the Baker and his wife, the pair set off on a journey into the woods to reverse the curse. Here, we encounter a hungry Wolf, the Witch's daughter Rapunzel, and two lovestruck princes. It seems that everyone might live happily ever after, until Jack's beanstalk brings them all a visit from an angry Giant, and the darkness of the world reveals itself.
