In 1991, Jennie Livingston’s powerful film took the world by storm after she won Best Documentary at Sundance, kickstarting the seminal New Queer Cinema wave. Livingston chronicled the ball culture in New York City and the incredible Black, Latinx, gay and transgender members of the balls.
