Alkina Wine Estate

Barossa

Alkina is a new story on an old place. It’s a journey through ancient stones and soils, organic and biodynamic viticulture, small scale winemaking and the creation of unique micro-terroir wines, all grown and made on our estate in the Western Barossa ranges.

The farm is on the traditional lands of the Ngadjuri people and Alkina is an Indigenous Australian girl’s name meaning ‘moon’. We seek to honour the land’s Aboriginal history, to learn from their farming philosophy and to promote the idea of guardianship rather than ownership.

We have 43 hectares of vines planted, with a winery, tasting room and luxury accommodation located together at the heart of the farm. The Tasting Room is open every day from 11am to 5pm and visitors can enjoy a guided wine flight accompanied by a cheese and charcuterie plate in the beautifully renovated 1850s wool shed, or relax with a glass of Rose outside in the courtyard.

A stay at Alkina’s luxuriously renovated guesthouse and cottage gives the visitor access to the full Barossa experience: estate wines and vineyard experiences on site, a wine cellar to select from, a kitchen garden from which to pick vegetables and herbs, Greenock Creek to wander through and, ultimately, a holistic vineyard to glass experience rooted in organic principles and a deep respect for nature.
