Redruth Studio Presents House Concert with Inkling Trio
Clare Valley
Event
Come and experience a gorgeous evening of folk-music in one of Burra's beautiful heritage buildings.
They are thrilled to host Inkling Trio's evocative and toe tapping music in their home-studio, Burra's 150 year old former Redruth Methodist Church.
This year, during South Australia's history month, Burra is celebrating its 180th birthday with a centennial BACK TO BURRA. As part of the festivities, they are opening the beautiful studio for a house concert featuring music that will weave a spell of early Burra life, from foot stompin' Adelaide based folk band Inkling Trio. Have a listen to Inkling Trio below. Aren't they fantastic? You can just imagine them playing to the miners in the dugouts back in Burra's early settlement.
Emlyn will also sing an acappella set. We recently discovered that 100 years ago, during Burra's first BACK TO BURRA, Emlyn's great great great grandfather, Joseph Roberts, who had been a councillor in Burra, was among the guests of honour. During the celebrations, he attended a concert right next door to the church in the Redruth Memorial Hall. In the program, they will sing a set of some of their favourite traditional repertoire from the UK - songs Emlyn's great great great grandfather might well have heard here.
