Escape to rugged Mount Remarkable National Park, where jagged peaks, deep gorges and abundant wildlife create unforgettable adventures.
From the 960 m summit above Willochra Plain to tranquil creek beds lined with river red gums, the park reveals the striking geology of the southern Flinders Ranges. Hikers, cyclists and families relish trails teeming with native animals.
Co‑managed with Traditional Owners, its cultural significance and diverse ecosystems are protected for future generations.
Camp beside Mambray Creek, wander valleys for echidnas and lace monitors, or test yourself on the Willowie network and Remarkable Epic mountain‑bike trail. For sweeping views, tackle the summit hike or explore ancient gorges.
Help keep the park pristine: stay on trails, pack out rubbish, respect wildlife.
Plan ahead online to book sites, check alerts and prepare for the outback climate. With spectacular vistas, abundant wildlife and active regeneration, Mount Remarkable is ready for your next adventure.
Wilmington fire update:
A February 2025 bushfire burnt about 25 percent of the park, yet it still offers plenty to explore and a rare chance to watch the landscape recover.
Most affected areas have reopened; closures now only include North Alligator walk beyond The Terraces and Longhill, Eaglehawk and Stony Creek backpacker campsites. Alligator Gorge, Mambray Creek, Willowie and Melrose entrances, all management tracks and the Mount Remarkable section of the Heysen Trail remain fully accessible.
