Palate 2 Palette Restaurant is proud to present an exhibition by Clare artist Julianne Pulford, with a focus on the old, vintage shacks at Fisherman Bay at Port Broughton on the Top of the Yorke.

The shacks are basic, built sturdily but without much regard for the building code - at least in the very early days. Unpretentious, simple structures made of easily obtained and economical material, such as timber, corrugated iron and fibre sheet. Many of the dwellings display a lot of lateral and creative thinking in the planning, resulting in every place being uniquely different.

With the recent granting of freehold to residents, it is more than likely that many shacks will begin to be upgraded or even replaced. Julianne thinks it very important that their character-filled history should be documented and recorded.

"A whole lotta shakin' goin' (on)" features 20 mixed media paintings by Clare artist Julianne Pulford depicting many of the iconic shacks at Fisherman Bay at the Top of The Yorke.
